But as they leaned in, they noticed something strange \u2014 five tiny creatures curled up together, covered in white spots and staring up with curious little eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey looked like baby deer at first,\u201d one of them said. \u201cBut then we saw the claws and tails \u2014 and realized they weren\u2019t anything we\u2019d ever seen before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group took photos and called a local wildlife rescue, who arrived minutes later \u2014 and that\u2019s when the truth came out. These weren\u2019t baby deer or wild cats\u2026 they were <strong>baby quolls<\/strong>, a rare and endangered species native to Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rescue team explained that these tiny creatures are carnivorous marsupials, related to kangaroos and Tasmanian devils \u2014 but far less common. Finding a whole litter alive and healthy was nothing short of a miracle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re incredibly rare in the wild,\u201d said one rescuer. \u201cSeeing this many babies together means their mother must be nearby and doing well \u2014 it\u2019s a great sign for the species.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The friends watched as the babies were carefully checked, photographed, and returned to their nest to wait for their mother.
