I nearly gagged. After that, though \u2014 my throat felt completely clear. No more irritation, no more weird sensation. These materials get trapped in the tiny crevices of your tonsils \u2014 especially if you\u2019ve had repeated sore throats or your tonsils have deep crypts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over time, the trapped gunk hardens into a foul-smelling lump that can sit unnoticed until\u2026 you sneeze, cough, or gag it out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Signs You Might Have Tonsil Stones:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Persistent bad breath, no matter how often you brush<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A scratchy or tickling feeling in your throat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A weird taste in your mouth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ear pain or pressure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visible white or yellow lumps near your tonsils<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Get Rid of Them:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gargle with warm salt water regularly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use a clean cotton swab or water flosser to gently dislodge them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Practice excellent oral hygiene \u2014 floss, brush your tongue, and rinse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stay hydrated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In chronic or severe cases, a doctor might recommend removing the tonsils entirely (tonsillectomy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Tonsil stones are more common than most people think \u2014 and many don\u2019t even realize they have them until one unexpectedly falls out.
